Technology Behind the ColdAvenger® Mask:

The ColdAvenger® is a technologically advanced cold weather protection mask designed to achieve four functional goals:
  1. Thermal comfort for warmth
  2. Ease of breathing
  3. Moisture control to keep the face dry
  4. Humidification of inhaled cold air

These criteria were selected because cold air exposure is a form of chronic trauma to the airway, and keeping the air around the face warm and humidified helps mitigate against cold weather related health effects. Technical studies and science-based evidence support the efficacy of ColdAvenger® at temperatures as low as -20?F. 2009_pro_pk.jpgThe plastic ventilation face piece is composed of medical-grade material selected for safety and cold weather endurance. ColdAvenger comes in three models: the Pro, the Classic and the Hunter. The Pro is constructed with soft shell, wind proof and water resistant fabric with an inner fleece lining for a comfortable fit.The Classic is constructed of a highly breathable micro fleece. The Hunter is constructed with Predator camouflage fleece. All models cover the face, ears and neck and prevent fogging of goggles.

How Does ColdAvenger® Work?

ColdAvenger® mixes inhaled cold air with exhaled warm air to achieve a dynamic balance of warmth while keeping the face dry. Inside mask temperatures are 40 to 60F higher than outside, depending on activity. The patent-pending ventilation design allows for easy breathing during exertion, a critical feature for high endurance outdoor activities. Moisture from exhaled air binds to the plastic piece, keeping the face dry.

Safety and Care of the ColdAvenger® Mask:

Safety and Biocompatibility of Plastic Face Piece

The plastic piece is constructed of medical-grade polyurethane and meets human biocompatibility specifications of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ISO 10993 and is plasticizer free. The plastic is flexible and enduring and has natural microbial resistance. The interior valve is adjustable and removable. Turning the valve clock-wise or counter clock-wise will reduce the air flow as much as 67%. The interior valve can be removed for cleaning. An optional nose foam pad is enclosed with each mask for extra comfort if needed.

Cleaning and Care

Hand wash with mild detergent and air dry. The plastic can be cleaned with detergents used to clean skin and clothes. The inside valve can be removed for cleaning. The plastic can be cleaned with common disinfectants. However, disinfectants are respiratory irritants and if used, follow with a water wipe and drying to remove residual before wearing the mask.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) About the ColdAvenger® Mask:

Q: What is the difference between the ColdAvenger® Classic and the ColdAvenger® Pro?

A: The only difference between the ColdAvenger® Classic and Pro is the fabric. They both have the exact same ventilator. The Classic is made with "classic" fleece which breathes and insulates well, but is not windproof or water resistant. The Pro is made with "soft-shell" fleece, which is tightly knit fleece with a laminate nylon shell that makes it wind and water resistant. Both have the exact same ventilator which humidifies and warms inhaled air, manages moisture and allows for total free breathing. We usually suggest the Classic to folks who are less active or moving slower and the Pro to folks who are working at a higher rate of activity or moving faster.

Q: Will the ColdAvenger® fit underneath my snowmobile/motorcycle helmet?

A: All of the ColdAvenger® masks are designed to fit underneath both half helmets and full MX type helmets with use of goggles.

Q: What are your return policies?

A: With health issues being a major concern of our business, we will not accept the return of masks that have been used/worn. We do not consider a mask to be "used/worn" if it was just tried on for fit. For safety reasons, we will not accept the return of a mask that has been used/worn.

Q: Will the mask fog my regular glasses?

A: The ColdAvenger® was designed to be worn with goggles. We guarantee that the mask will not fog your goggles. Some of our customers have found that the ColdAvenger® also prevents the fogging of regular glasses, however we make no claims that the ColdAvenger® will prevent the fogging of regular glasses. We do include a self-adhesive foam insert that fits directly inside the ventilator over the nose bridge, to help improve comfort. This has been able to eliminate fogging of some customer's glasses.

Q: How do I clean my ColdAvenger?

A: The ColdAvenger® is made using only the highest quality materials and therefore should not require much cleaning. If you do have to clean your ColdAvenger® we highly recommend that you hand wash with mild soap and allow the ColdAvenger® to air dry. Machine washing is not recommended.

Q: How do I use the provided foam insert I found in my ColdAvenger® box?

A: The included, self adhesive foam piece is provided to assure a comfortable, air tight seal between the ventilator and the upward escapement of air. This piece is to be attached on the ventilator where the bridge of the nose comes in contact with the mask. Although we do not guarantee that the mask will not fog your glasses, this self-adhesive foam piece has been proven to add comfort and help eliminate fogging in glasses.

Testimonials About the ColdAvenger® Mask:

"I gave your mask the ultimate test this morning. It was minus 23°F and my breathing was excellent as long as I kept running and kept my body temperature up. No problem whatsoever with air temperature. If it can protect you at 23°F below zero, it is a winner!"
Jim Hohnberger from Polebridge, Montana

"I used the ColdAvenger® while skiing in the Northern Rockies and fell in love on the first run! My face was dry and my inhaled air was warm and humidified. The mask is impervious to cold, wind and snow. I wear glasses under my ski goggles and the ColdAvenger® solved my problem of fogging lenses."
Jim McLaughlin, M.D., Emergency Medicine

action-icon7.jpg "Great product! Both my boys and I love the ColdAvenger®; it came in handy during 20-30° below zero temps with wind chill over the holidays here in Colorado. We were able to ski in comfort with your mask. I could have sold a whole truck load here over the holidays. Everyone wanted one."
Jeff Cox, Colorado

"I've been using my ColdAvenger® during our recent cold snap up here in Fairbanks, Alaska. I've been skiing when it is -30°F and -40°F and today we raced at -20°F! I previously used a Psolar and I find the ColdAvenger® to be much easier to breathe through when exercising and with the foam piece on, my eye area doesn't ice up either. Great Product and performs as advertised!"
- Tom Dale from Fairbanks, Alaska

"The ColdAvenger® is wonderfully engineered. When skiing uphill or on long traverses I did not need to remove the mask to get more air. The air felt humidified and I was less thirsty at the end of my day on the mountain. I also skied faster because I felt no cold blast of air in my face."
Jim McGeorge, M.D., Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
